Over 200 nine to eleven year olds from eight local primary schools enjoyed an afternoon of friendly competition at our Sports Hall Athletics Competition, part of school’s Sports Partnership Programme.

The programme was designed by Carr Hill staff to replace the old School Sports Coordinator programme which ended several years ago.  As a school we felt it was important to continue to offer opportunities to collaborate with primary schools.  Aside from it being a fantastic opportunity for primary school pupils to take part in physical activity and sport, it also goes a long way in helping the transition process from primary to secondary school, and prepares year 6 pupils for life at Carr Hill by giving them a taste of the facilities we have to offer in addition to meeting our staff.

The scheme is supported by a team of Sports Leaders made up of dedicated students who volunteer their time in exchange for the opportunity to lead, coach or officiate which helps them develop into confident young people.

PE Teacher Mr Doughty said, “What a fantastic day this was! So many students representing their respective schools so well.  I was very impressed at the standard of the sportsmanship and as always everyone seemed to have a very enjoyable day”.

Mrs Holmes from Kirkham St Michael’s said, “We’d just like to thank Carr Hill Sports Partnership for providing us with an invaluable opportunity for all our Key Stage 2 students. It’s a wonderful, rewarding experience for the children creating life long memories and a love of fitness and well-being”.

Thank you to local firm IWantEvents for providing the PA and music.
