Last week, we were very excited and honoured to welcome one of the UK's most exciting new pop acts, Molly Warburton, to perform and deliver a PSHE message to our Year 7 and Year 8 students. Mr Beale, our Personal Development and Careers Lead, arranged Molly's performance, as a source of inspiration, entertainment and valuable education on sensitive subjects. Many students are still facing many challenges, including impact on their wellbeing, especially their mental health.

Molly opened the performance with some songs, sang acoustically with her trusty guitar. Many of the songs that she sang were her own creations, mixed with a couple of covers, including one by Miley Cyrus, 'Flowers'. Molly then started to deliver a message on mental health, wellbeing, respect, dealing with stress and British Values. She chatted about her teenage years of learning to play the guitar, her early influences and inspirations - Fleetwood Mac, Katy Tunstall and even Taylor Swift. Molly has had her own experiences with these subjects and is excited to be speaking to young people all around the UK. Molly is highly experienced in delivering these messages to school students and has already engaged with over 150 schools. Molly then asked the students some questions, what they did for hobbies, what they did in their spare time and whether they could remember the British Values. Kate in Year 8 tried her hardest to remember, getting most of them right, and was brought to the front by Molly to claim her prize for answering so well. Molly then finished with her newest single, which can be seen on YouTube/TikTok, 'Overdrive'.

Mr Beale closed the performance with a thank you to Molly and an explanation of how we can all start the day not feeling on top form, he himself had brought numerous problems into school with him that morning, but that we can change that round by trying to find a positive state of mind. Mr Beale explained that hearing Molly play her music and talking to us about the message of Resilience and Respect (two of our school messages, Commitment, Aspiration, Resilience and Respect - CARR) had inspired him to try better throughout the day, and he hoped that the message had passed onto the students too. After the students had filed out of the hall, some stayed behind to meet Molly and to ask her for leaflets and stickers. Kate, who had won the prize earlier on, stayed to have her photograph taken with Molly.

Please see a selection of photos below. There are also music videos and more information about Molly. Many thanks to Mr Beale for arranging this wonderful opportunity for our younger students.
