Wednesday was Year 11's final day in school, and we celebrated their 5 year journey with a Leavers' Breakfast followed by a Leavers' Assembly. All Year 11 students were welcomed into the canteen, where they shared something to eat and drink with their fellow students for the final time in school. The breakfast celebration was a chance for student Charlie to be the centre of attention, with a full English, tea and crumpets provided by the dinner ladies. Charlie has been a regular at lunchtime, always requesting a hot meal and loving bangers and mash when it was on the menu. This time together gave students the chance to sign each others shirts, or leavers' book, writing messages of good luck or memories to remember their journey together. Teachers from all subjects were on hand to sign shirts with messages of support and best wishes. Some of the shirts were beautifully embellished and will be treasured keepsakes.

After some of the lads said a big thank you to the catering staff, and students had collected their Class of 21 hoodies, they all joined senior staff members in the hall for a final assembly. Miss Wareing, the Assistant Head Teacher in charge of KS4 started things off, with some photos from their school trips and sporting successes over the years, causing much laughter on occasion as the students remembered. There were some messages for the future and a chance for students to show their appreciation to the staff who have been a great support over their time here.

The students then made their way to the field, for a final photo as a year group. Even a bit of light rain didn't dampen any spirits and the students enjoyed taking a few final photos of each other and saying their goodbyes.

Under normal circumstances, this would have been a day-long celebration, with their prom to attend in the evening. Unfortunately this year, we haven't been able to go ahead with a lot of their events, but this was a chance to celebrate the end of an intense and difficult assessment period on a high note. Thank you to all the Year 11 students who put their all into school life, the Carr Hill community wishes you all the best for the future and keep in touch! We look forward to seeing you all on results day in August.
