Students at Carr Hill marked this year’s World Book Day with a series of school and community based activities.

A group of Year 10 students visited local nursery Tree Tots and spent the afternoon reading some classic children’s books to the youngsters. Meanwhile, in school students wrapped up their favourite books, writing a description of it to share with other students, and made their own bookmarks. There was also a whole school challenge in the form of the ‘Book Title Quest’ where students had to collect the titles of staff members’ favourite books. The three students in each year group who collected the most titles received a Love2Shop voucher.

English Faculty Leader Mrs Aspden said: “World Book Day is a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and reading. Thank you to all the students who got involved with the school’s activities. I would also like to thank our Year 10 students who visited Tree Tots. This is the first time we have done an activity such as this as part of our celebrations. It was a huge success and an enjoyable experience for our students and the children at the nursery.”
