A group of boys from Year 7 and 8 have spent the day creating their own dance piece with the help of a local dance company.

Pupils worked with Sarah Gough, Director of Chorley Boys Dance Company, to devise a two minute routine with the theme of ‘gaming’. Sarah was joined for the workshop by two members of the dance company, Harry and Mike, who helped students to bring their ideas to life.

Year 7 Archie said: “The best part of today has been working as a team to come up with new ideas. At first it was challenging but it all came together in the end.”

Year 7 Freddy said: “Today has been a good chance to meet new people who you might not usually see around school. The workshop was fun and it has inspired me to do more dance.”

At the end of the workshop students performed to their peers, family and parents. The boys were then each presented with a certificate before Sarah awarded three students with an additional award for effort, attitude and progress.

Dance teacher Miss O’Connor said: “The routine the boys performed was fun, creative and high energy. As an audience member it was fantastic to watch and their interpretations of the theme were impressive and original. Well done boys.”
