Carr Hill Students partook in the annual Wyre and Fylde Athletics Championships yesterday with some stunning results. Sporting Elite Media Officer Jack from Year 13 has this report...

On Thursday 29th June 2017, it was time for the boys to participate in the annual, Wyre and Fylde Athletics Championships. Last year, Carr Hill came third overall so the question was, was Carr Hill able to beat this and claim the prestigious prize of first or second?

The events that were to take place were the field events, such as high jump, triple jump and javelin. Meanwhile, the track events included, the 100m to 1500m and the ever-competitive relay race!

Although, the weather wasn’t the best, Carr Hill brought their talent which stretched from Year 7 to Year 10, and during the day Carr Hill were able to bring home some impressive victories! Year 10, Ethan, had a brilliant day, as he broke the current record for the 300m and claimed an amazing time of 38.4! Finally, the Year 10 students Ethan, Taylor, Dylan and Bradley performed an outstanding relay race as they also broke the current record held and got an impressive time of 47.4! Well done to all the students in representing Carr Hill and especially to those who broke records on the day!

Overall, Carr Hill High School came second place, which meant that the school had improved one place in comparison to last year. This is an amazing accomplishment and a massive well done to all involved! Carr Hill came third in Year 8 and first in Year 10. Meanwhile, Carr Hill gained a total of 833 points, beating eleven additional schools!

Year 10 student and new Football Academy addition, Jack said: “It was my last Fylde Coast and it was a good one to remember! Especially that we were the highest scoring Year 10 school there! The performances that all the lads put in contributed to a well-deserved second place! I’d like to congratulate everyone for their efforts today!”

Thank you for all the efforts put in by the Carr Hill students and staff and the Sixth Form students!
