The students, who were in Year 11 during the 2015-2016 academic year, were joined by proud parents, carers, family and friends for an evening of awards celebrating their GCSE year.  

The event recognised every student in Year 11 with each person receiving a certificate to congratulate them on completing their GCSE exams.These awards were followed by Highest Achiever and Most Improved Awards in each of the subjects. Faculty Leaders presented awards in 26 subjects recognising 52 achievements across the Year 11 curriculum.

College presentations followed as each College Leader took to the stage to announce the student they had chosen to receive the ‘Outstanding Contribution to School Life’ award. The College Leaders acknowledged students who had shown dedication to their studies, excelled at extra-curricular clubs and been a positive role model to their peers. Attendance was also noted during the ceremony with a large number of students gaining certificates for achieving 100 percent attendance during Year 11.

The Performing Arts department showcased the talents of their pupils during the evening with the Dance Academy students performing a piece choreographed for the recent Wyre and Fylde Dance Festival. Student Poppy Alice also played the piano as guests arrived at the event, performing a variety of songs during the drinks reception.

Headteacher Mr Waller said: “It was wonderful to see so many of our 2015-2016 Year 11’s at the awards evening with their family and friends. We gave out over 70 awards (in addition to the GCSE completion certificates) recognising students who have excelled during their time in Year 11 in a multitude of different ways. Congratulations to all pupils and thank you to staff for sharing the many achievements of our students with the school community.”
