We celebrated our first School Diversity Week at Carr Hill High School on 20th - 25th June to show our appreciation for the LGBTQ+ community and diversity as a whole! The staff and students helped to organise the week and thanks to this, it was a great success!

Some of the activities the whole school were able to get involved in were a 'Decorate Your Door' competition that was judged on the Friday, each winning mentor in every year group received a prize for their fantastic efforts. The doors were truly inspirational and beautiful! Students also filled out 'Kindness Notes' to give out around the school, and in each lesson, they learned about an LGBT icon that was a pioneer in that specific subject!

The week culminated in a huge celebration on the Friday, where there was face painting, a bake sale and a badge sale! Excitingly, the badges that were sold were all designed by Carr Hill students! All the proceeds from the day went towards charity, this year we chose Lancashire LGBT and were able to gift them with £128.84 thanks to all the kindness and hard work from Carr Hill staff and students!

We also had a visit from UrPotential, a local non-profit organisation that offer support groups and a youth club to local LGBT teens! They also have a range of volunteering activities over the summer, and offer support to any young person who needs it.

All in all, it was a fantastic week and to see the staff and students getting involved and speaking kindness and positivity was lovely! We shall be sure to make this an annual Carr Hill event!
