Year 7 student Harley and Year 9 students Fin and Oakley have been announced as the winners of the Arts Maths competition.

All students in all years were invited to take part in a photography competition to celebrate maths during numeracy week. Entries were submitted to the maths faculty so staff could see how maths fits into art in our everyday lives in the form of shapes, numbers, maths symbols, symmetry, fractals and more.

Art teacher Mrs Williams said: “There were many great ideas and students have been creative in finding maths all around them. The headteacher was delighted to be invited to judge the competition and hand out the winning awards during assemblies this week. Harley, Fin and Oakley’s designs were particularly creative and really showed how maths can be seen in everyday life.”

All the entries will be displayed in the maths and art department corridors.
