90 Year 7 students spent the weekend taking part in the Bush Craft Company’s residential- a three day trip designed to build teamwork skills and give students new experiences all whilst staying in the ‘wilderness’.

The residential, which was held at Cholmondeley Castle, included activities such as fire lighting, shelter building, wilderness first aid, trap making and a bushcraft challenge. Students slept under the stars each evening with some students even sleeping in the shelters they made. Students also helped to prepare food for each meal and took part in fun games and challenges each evening.

Head of Year 7 Mr Penney said: “Year 7 had a fantastic trip and really got stuck in to all the different activities. The trip was all about working together as a tribe to live in the wilderness. Most of the activities were things that our students hadn’t done before but they rose to every challenge and were a credit to the school. Well done Year 7.”

Year 7 Taryn  said: “One of my favourite parts of the trip was the campfire songs as everyone was together. I also enjoyed making survival bracelets which can be used to help people in lots of different ways like if someone got injured you could use the material as a sling. I’ve never done a trip like this before- it was brilliant.”

Year 7 Harry  said: “I enjoyed sleeping in the shelter I made with my friends. It felt good to be set a challenge and complete it successfully. I wanted to go on the trip because it sounded so much fun and it was.”

There are some items which have been handed in to Lost Property in the Hub following the trip. Students- please speak to Hub staff if you think you lost an item on the trip.
