It's been a month of sporting success for three of our Year 10 students

Head Boy James has recently won his first Triathlon in St Annes winning his age category and picking up a trophy following the challenge which involved swimming 400 metres, cycling 10k and running 3k. James has been competing for five years and has entered 10 different competitions. He said: “I like competing in Triathlons because of the variety of sports. Swimming is my favourite part of the event and I definitely find running the hardest but I enjoy it all.”

Year 10 Phoebe has recently returned from Greece having represented Great Britain at an international gymnastics competition. Phoebe competed as part of a team of five that was placed first for the ‘hoops’ and ‘ribbon’ categories ahead of six other countries. Phoebe said: “This was one of the biggest competitions I’ve been in. It was in a bigger arena and there was a much larger audience which added to the pressure but also helped to motivate us.”  Phoebe’s team are now looking forward to the next international competition.

Year 10 Daniel, who plays for AFC Fylde Academy, was invited to join the players at Wembley for the FA Trophy final where his team won against Leyton Orient making them champions of the non league competition.  Dan, who hopes to get a scholarship, accompanied players to the final and offered support ahead of the game. Dan said: "It was an amazing experience to be a part of and when they won everyone was buzzing. Being with the players and the atmosphere was incredible and has made me more determined to play for the club first team."

Year 10 Year Leader Mrs Beesley said: "It's fantastic to see James, Phoebe and Daniel celebrating sporting success- be it their own or that of their teammates. All three students are dedicated sports people and I know they all have bright future ahead of them."
