As part of Carr Hill’s ‘We are Reading' challenge we have created a number of 'student author’ posts. The work of our student authors will regularly be shared on the website, in editions of our school magazine and other communication channels. In the next of our student author contributions Year 11 Rowan shares her poem Escape. Thank you, Rowan.

Escape

A paper kite flies free in the open sky, twisting and turning in the wind.

Floating through clouds passing by, buildings and people so far below,

I wonder, I wonder how far it'll go.

No string to hold it, no child in control,

continuously gliding with no where to go.

But when the wind stops and the clouds appear no more,

to the ground it will begin to fall, unable to steer, it falls and falls until the breeze swoops it back up higher.

Freedom, it effortlessly floats up high, free in the open sky.
