Year 7 Erin, and her teammates, have been selected by British Gymnastics as a GBR espoir (under 12) group for this year.

Erin, who has been training as a gymnast since she was four years old, will now have the opportunity to train with some of the country’s best coaches at Lilleshall-the home of British Gymnastics. This could lead to the chance to compete at the British Championships and other competitions later this year.

In order to be selected Erin and her teammates were required to demonstrate Body Elements and Flexibility. Having impressed the judging panel, the group, who have already competed at the British Championships, will now embark on this exciting training opportunity.

Erin said: “I enjoy gymnastics as it keeps me fit and active and gets me away from being on my phone all the time. The best part of competing is being in a group who all support each other. I’m excited about Lilleshall and I’m going to keep working  and see where that leads.”

Headteacher Mr Waller said: “Congratulations to Erin and her teammates. It’s fantastic to hear how well students are doing in and outside of school. Juggling training sessions with school work and other commitments can be challenging but it will help to develop valuable skills that can be used throughout life. Well done, Erin and we look forward to hearing what’s next for you. “
