Year 8 student Holly will form part of the Lancashire Schools FA Girls under 14’s squad for the 2019/2020 season. Holly was successful in gaining a place on the team following a process which involved four trials and competition from 120 other players.

Holly is just one of 22 players to have been selected for the squad, with the Lancashire Schools’ Football Association stating the standard of players was extremely high this year.  Holly is also one of the youngest girls on the team as an under 13. Holly will begin training with the team straight away to earn one of the squad’s 16 places on match days.

The team will play  in the English Schools FA Inter Counties National Cup 1st round tie away against Cleveland shortly and after this they will be involved in a number of Northern Counties fixtures throughout the season. The team are currently the Northern National Champions.

Holly, who also plays for Blackburn Rovers FC under 14’s,  said: "I was so shocked when I found out I was on the team. I didn't expect it all especially because I'm younger than a lot of the other players. My dream for the future  is to play for Manchester City or Manchester United."

Headteacher Mr Waller said: “Congratulations to Holly. It sounds like a very challenging selection process and it must have taken a lot of talent, hard work and dedication to make the final squad. We wish Holly all the best ahead of the new season and look forward to hearing more about the bright football career she has ahead of her.”
