Carr Hill High School & Sixth Form Centre has been working in partnership with local football club Fleetwood Town to promote sporting opportunities to their students. The partnership has been running since the end of last year and so far is going extremely well.

Since Fleetwood Town FC started working with the school it has had two ticket giveaways for Carr Hill students, enabling the youngsters to watch home games for free.

Last Saturday the Fylde football club gave seven students the opportunity to be a ballboy (or girl) at their home game against Dagenham & Redbridge in March which was dubbed a great experience for those students who took part!

In a bid to increase the extra – curricular opportunities of students, Carr Hill Sixth Form has this year launched the ‘Sporting Elite’ Football Academy and the partnership between Fleetwood Town Football Club has seen professional first team players running coaching sessions.

In the coming months Key Stage 3 level teams will be benefiting from similar sessions when Fleetwood Town coaches will be visiting school, giving all students the chance to be taught by the professionals.

Sports Academies Co-ordinator and PE teacher, Mr Doughty said: “Carr Hill and Fleetwood Town Football Club have been working extremely hard to increase the sporting provision for students at the school.

“We appreciate all the opportunities FTFC have given us so far. Our students have been very excited about the different events and are benefiting from being offered something a little different.”

The growing relationship between Carr Hill and FTFC will see the club holding ticket giveaways and ball boy opportunities for the students. Additionally to this, the club is hoping to offer apprenticeship opportunities to students in a variety of different roles including in media, commercial and in football.

Matt Hilton Director of Community & Education at Fleetwood Town FC said: “We are committed to working in partnership with Carr Hill in order to provide high quality sports coaching and educational programme.

“We would also like to increase levels of participation to enable us to work together to develop the next generation of fans”.
