Our musicians with their Shine certificates awarded for taking part in the Recital
The Music Department recently held a Recital Evening at which students performed pieces they are preparing for forthcoming Associated Board, Musical Theatre and RockSchool examinations.
Daniel Belshaw performed one of his Grade 6 trumpet pieces, and he said: “it was a great opportunity to perform my exam piece for a big audience, so when I play the piece for my exam I'll feel more confident.” Hannah Bass was one of a quartet of singers performing a RockSchool exam song, 'I wish I was a punkrocker with flowers in my hair', and she said: “it was exciting to sing for a good audience, and I loved the applause at the end! Our song was a pop song so we gave a different kind of performance to the more classical pieces and musical theatre performances. Performing at the Recital Evening made us feel really great, and we're now going to audition for the Summer Talent Show.” Ms Waring, Head of Music, said: “The joy of music is live performance, and seeing our musicians grow in confidence as they prepared for the Recital Evening, then enjoying the experience is great. Our musicians are a very talented group of students, as our excellent music exam results show, and they are a pleasure to work with.”
