Y8 students with Rudi Oppenheimer

THE atrocities of the Holocaust were brought to life for students as they welcomed a Jewish survivor. 

Rudi Oppenheimer was just a youngster living in Holland when WWII broke out but as a German Jew he and his family were among the millions persecuted.

His visit to Carr Hill was organised by the Holocaust Educational Trust as part of school’s Humanities Fortnight where students have been looking at Humanities and War and how History, Geography and Religious Studies are all involved.

TALENTED students really showed off their skills at the first ever Inter College Talent Show.

There was fierce, but friendly, competition between all colleges as students battled it out to be named the best.

And with the help of invited judges - (pictured l-r) Gazette Entertainment Editor Robin Duke, Head of Performing Arts at Blackpool Sixth Form College Ian Carten and BBC Radio Lancashire presenter John "Gilly" Gilmore - Juno College were named overall winners.

But with almost 30 students taking part the event was a showcase of a wide variety of Carr Hill Talent.

Organisation This Summer Holidays Carr Hill will be offering an out of hours school service in the form of a Sports and Activities Camp. The camp will run from the w/b Monday 26th – 30th July and w/b Monday 2nd – 6th at Carr Hill and will be open to all year 6,7 and 8 pupils running from 9.00am – 3.00pm.
