CARR HILL SHARES CHRISTMAS CHEER
Friday, 18 December 2009 11:32
KIND-HEARTED Carr Hill students are spreading Christmas cheer delivering gifts to the senior citizens of Kirkham.
Members of Apollo and Poseidon Colleges decided they wanted to do something for the local community so students donated hundreds of items of food, toiletries and goodies to be made into Christmas shoe boxes.
College head Mr Davidson and a team from Poseidon (pictured below) visited Amounderness Court sheltered housing where they mixed and chatted with residents over a cup of tea and mince pies before joining in with some Christmas Carols.
Mr Davidson said: "The college committee have shown a great deal of responsibilty in the early days of the college system and I look foward to their next project. They have represented their school and their college well."
Meanwhile members of Apollo College (pictured above) wrapped more than 20 shoe boxes to be distributed around Kirkham by a district nurse.
College head Mrs Evans said: "This is all their own idea to do this and I am very proud of them. It's great to be part of the Kirkham community and this shows that Carr Hill students are fab."

Mr Earnshaw, Mrs Winstanley and Mrs Fry with Katie Barker (Mercury), Jacob Callaghan (Minerva), Rebecca Ballinger (Poseidon), Courtney Pledger (Apollo), Masie Butterworth (Juno) and Shannagh Parker (Ceres).
HEROES and heroines were the subject as students wrote poems for National Poetry Day.
Hundreds put pen to paper for a school competition which saw many students enter poems about their college god.
Mentors then chose the best poem from each mentor group, with college leaders selecting a winner for each college.
Deputy Headteacher Mrs Winstanley chose Poseidon College and Y11 student Rebecca Ballinger's verse about Poseidon as the best overall entry.
All students with winning entries were presented with book tokens and earned merits for their colleges.
