Chef Glen Moody serving lunch to Josh Naisbett (front) and Josh Nicol (back).

OUR school chef is top again after being named the best in the North West.

Fast on the heels of scooping the Lancashire best chef award in December Glen Moody has now beaten stiff competition from seven other North West entries to be named the region’s winner.

He now faces more competition as he prepares for the national final of the LACA (Local Authority Catering Association) School Chef of the Year competition in May.

WELL DONE GLEN!

As well as appearing in the local press Glen has also been interviewed live on BBC Radio Lancashire talking about his win. If you would like to listen click HERE. (The interview was broadcast on the Graham Liver Breakfast Show on Thurs March 11th. Forward to 2hrs 25mins for Glen's interview.)

GREEN fingered Carr Hill students are digging deep after winning 100 trees to be planted in the school grounds.

And the youngsters have wasted no time by using the trees to create an outdoor classroom and to block noise from the busy A585 running alongside the school grounds.

Science technician Mrs Pearson, who runs the Eco Council, won the 100 trees, which include Oaks, Field Maple and Rowan, in a competition run by Burscough-based company Mahood Trees.

Mrs Pearson said: “We are delighted to have won these trees. The Eco Council is still relatively new at Carr Hill but we are all having a great time raising green issues around school, such as improving recycling, and the students are really working hard to improve the school grounds.”

12 members of the Eco Council planted the trees with the help of Deputy Head Mrs Winstanley and Mrs Pearson.

Mrs Winstanley said: “The Eco Council is working extremely hard to improve the Carr Hill environment so I am delighted they have won these trees. They will obviously have a huge impact on the aesthetics of our grounds while also helping the environment.

“We are very proud that Carr Hill students are conscientious about such issues and want to do what they can to help.”

Mahood Trees has donated 100 trees to one school in each borough of Lancashire to mark the company’s one hundredth anniversary. Carr Hill won the award for Fylde.
